I think you should upgrade to these parts listed below because it's the most costeffictive compared to its performance.ġ) Upgrade your ram to at least 2 GB if you're using vista + adobe premier. You can easily overclock either one of these CPU to 3.0ghz without any Heatsink upgrade. I highly recommend overclocking one of these CPU. Because this motherboard does not have a ATA 100/133 controller, thus you'll have to get a SATA dvd-rw or buy a SATA-> ATA converter. It sports 4 ram slots, so you can configure your computer to 4GB ram cheapily. This motherboard features a better intergrated graphic card than the pervious EVGA one. This motherboard is also worth look into. Otherwize it's a very good board for the price.ĮCS G33T-M2(1.0) mATX LGA775 Conroe G33 Matx $84.99 after rebate It has only 2 ram slots so this might be the feature that might turn you off. This includes Core 2 Quad/dual Q6x00, E6x00, E4xxx, E2xxx, Celeron L 21x0 and your old Netburst cpus. It also supports all of the intel processor that's being offered right now except for 1333mhz fsb ones. It includes Geforce 7050 integrated graphic card and will be plenty enough for video editing. I can guarentee you that this Ram will work with stated specifications.ĮVGA Nforce E-7050/610I LGA775 mATX $58.99 after Rebate Here's my recommendation of value upgrades:ĭon't worry about the brand if you've never heard of it. Too bad that was only a surprise sale so it ended on the same day. It's so dam cheap.Ģ days ago they had OCZ GOLD ddr2 800 2x1GB for 20$ after rebate. If you're going to buy ram, buy it from NCIX. You may be able to build that up for 400 dollars or less but if thats out of your budget you may want to look at just upgrading your memory depending on how much you have right now. an intel q6600 should run you far below 300 dollars and depending on how old your current board is you may not even have to switch your RAM out. no point in going with an sli board as you are not going to be doing anything graphic intensive.

a good cheap board with quad support is the Asus P5K-VM and you should be able to get it for under 130 cdn. If you have a pentium d right now you can be pritty sure your board will not support a quad core. Where could I find out what my motherboard is and what it can handle.Īnd if I do decide on a quad-core, what motherboard would you recommend? I talked to a Dell guy and he said the highest I should go is a Dual-Core. So I don't really need a new video card? Having more resolution output from the card won't generate a better picture, just a bigger one, right?Īnd that CPU you were talking about was a quad-core, right? Because I am almost positive my motherboard won't be able to handle that. Wow, I didn't think I'd get a response like this one.

If your motherboard doesn't sports Q6600, upgrade to something like E4500(140$) plus 3-4GB of ram ( $20(price of ram/GB)X varible = $your price) depending on your setup.

By upgrading to this CPU, it would probably triple or quadruple the performance in Adobe Premier assuming adobe premier is multithreaded like all the adobe products. I think you should upgrade your CPU to something like Q6600 (270$) if the motherboard bios sports it. In fact, almost all of the integrated graphic card will do unless you're doing high end video editing at high FPS. Video editing doesn't not require a lot of graphic processing. I think you should not upgrade the video card. It's a Pentium D and I want to upgrade to a Intel Dual- Core 2.2Ghz($130), could I put this in myself or not? My power supply is 305W MAX.Īny tips or products you recommend that would be great. And the one that I'm a little weery(SP?) on is the processor. So I am going to upgrade my video card from a GeForce 7300 SE to a GeForce 8600 GT($110).

I thought it was a good computer for the price($650).īut when I started doing video editing in Premiere Pro it would constantly freeze up and be sluggish. So I have a Dell Dimension E520, that I bought last march.
